What is a GFCI receptacle?
A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) receptacle is one that is designed to keep you protected from a potentially lethal electric shock in areas subject to moisture such as bathrooms, garages, or outdoors. They work by continuously monitoring the balance of current between hot and neutral wires, shutting down power instantly if a ground fault is detected, such as when a powered device is dropped in the water. GFCI protected circuits are required in your kitchen, bathrooms, garage, and outdoor areas.
Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?
If you have reset a circuit breaker and it continues to trip, you should have a qualified electrician look at the issue. While it could be just a power-hungry appliance like a space heater or hairdryer that can be plugged into a different circuit, you may need to increase the rating of a frequently used circuit or add a new circuit in order to meet your electrical needs.
Does Puget Sound Energy (PSE) offer rebates for home EV charger installations?
Yes! PSE offers a standard rebate of up to $300 for Level 2 home chargers, and up to $600 plus up to $2,000 in installation financial support for income-qualified households.
Who qualifies for the PSE Level 2 EV charger rebate in Whatcom, Skagit County, and Island County?
Any residential electric account holder with Puget Sound Energy installing a qualifying Level 2 charger at their property is eligible. Boots Electric LLC provides complete 240V circuit wiring and panel assessments to ensure your setup meets PSE requirements.
Does installing a Level 2 EV charger require a main electrical panel upgrade?
Level 2 chargers require a dedicated 240-volt circuit. If your home's main panel is 100 amps or fully loaded, we may recommend a 200-amp panel upgrade to safely support the charger alongside your household appliances.
